Answer:

The matter are of three types-

1.solid-It has it's fixed shape and volume.It cannot be compressed .

2.liquid-It donot have it's definate shape it takes the shape of it's container in which it has kept.

3.gases-it can compress easily.it donot have it's definate shape.

what are the different states of matter?

Generally, Matter is broadly divided into 5 types but mostly we learn about only 3 types .

Hence, The three states of matter are ;

  1. Solids
  2. Liquids
  3. Gases

Extra information:

The left over two states of matter are;

4. plasma

5. BEC ( Bose Einstein Condensate of Matter)

Solids :

  1. Solids have a definite shape .
  2. Solids have a definite volume.
  3. Solids have high intermolecular forces of attraction .
  4. Solids cannot flow from one place to another .
  5. Intermolecular space is negligible.
  6. Solids are in compressible.

Liquids :

  1. Liquids do not have a definite shape. But they will take the shape of the container
  2. Liquids have a definite volume.
  3. In liquids intermolecular forces of attraction is less.
  4. Liquids can diffuse from one place to another. ( diffuse = to flow )
  5. Intermolecular space is present.
  6. Liquids are compressible.

Gases :

  1. Gases don't have definite shape.
  2. Gases don't have definite volume.
  3. In gases intermolecular forces of attraction is negligible.
  4. Gases are highly diffused.
  5. Intermolecular space is more.
  6. Gases are highly compressible.
