Direct taxes are those taxes whose final burden falls on that person who makes the payment to the government, e.g., income tax, wealth tax etc.
Indirect taxes are those taxes which are paid to the government by one person but their burden is borne by another person, e.g., sales tax, exercise tax etc.
Indirect taxes are those taxes which are paid to the government by one person but their burden is borne by another person, e.g., sales tax, exercise tax etc.

Direct taxes refers to those taxes which are compulsory paynents and ignoring to pay them is a criminal offence and the whole burden has to be borne by one person and the burden can't be shifted.
For e.g., Income tax, etc.
Indirect taxes are those taxes which are paid to the government by one person and the burden can be shifted and borne by another person. They are not compulsory payments.
For e.g., Entertainment tax, excise duty etc.
