➠A homogeneous mixture of two or more substances that are chemically non-reacting and whose composition can be varied within certain limits called a solution.

➠The substance which make up the solution are called its components.

Solvent is a substance in which solute is to be dissolved.

Solute is a substance which is to be dissolved in a solvent.

➠They cannot be seen by naked eyes.

➠Because of very small particle size, they do not scatter a beam of light passing through the solution that is they show Tyndall effect.

Distillation is a method for separating the solvent from a solution.

➠Suspension is heterogeneous in nature.

➠Particles of suspension can be separated by filtration.

➠Particles of suspension have a tendency to settle down, though very fine particles remain suspended in the medium.

➠Particles in a suspension can be noticed with naked eyes of can be seen clearly with simple microscope.

Tyndall effect can be seen to some extent.

➠Do not diffuse.

➠Colloidal solution and heterogeneous in nature.

➠Colloidal particles are too small to be seen with naked eyes.

➠Colloidal particles pass through the ordinary filter paper.

➠Show Tyndall Effect.

➠Diffuse slowly.
