Answer :-
→ Discriminant = b² - 4ac
For the given equation :-
- a = 1
- b = -7
- c = 2
→ D = (-7)² - 4 × 1 × 2
→ D = 49 - 4 × 2
→ D = 49 - 8
→ D = 41
Here, we got the value of discriminant as positive and greater than 0. So, nature of roots of the quadratic equation are real and distinct.
Additional information :-
Nature of the roots of the quadratic expression.
1. If D > 0 then roots are real and different.
2. If D is a perfect square, then roots are rational and different.
3. If D = 0, then roots are real and equal.
4. If D < 0 then, roots are imaginary and unequal or complex conjugate.
