Discriminant is defined as b^2-4ac, in this case it is (-2)^2-4(2)(k). This is equal to 4-8k

X^2+-2x+k

Answer: d=b^2-4ac

D=0

B^2-4ac=0

Putting the values:

(2)^2 - 4(1)(k)=0

4-4k=0

-4k=4

K=4/-4

K=-1
