SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The domain and range of the function (x,y):x=3y and x and y are natural numbers less than 10

EVALUATION

Here the given function is

f = { (x, y) : x = 3y, x and y are natural numbers less than 10 }

So Here y = 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9

For y = 1 we have x = 3

For y = 2 we have x = 6

For y = 3 we have x = 9

For y = 4 we have x = 12

For y = 5 we have x = 15

For y = 6 we have x = 18

For y = 7 we have x = 21

For y = 8 we have x = 24

For y = 9 we have x = 27

Hence

Domain = { 3 , 6 , 9 , 12 , 15 , 18 , 21 , 24 , 27 }

Range = { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 }

Answer:

given: R=(x,y):x=3y

and it is mentioned that x and y are natural numbers less than 10

Step-by-step explanation:

let us take y=1 then we have x=3 (since x=3y)

now if y=2 then we have x=6

if y=3 then x=9

since x and y are natural nos less than 10

Hence,

Domain={3,6,9}

Range={1,2,3}
