the comparison of electrons with planets in the solar system is the main drawback of Rutherford atomic model according to the classical laws of mechanics and electrodynamics if an electrically charged particle is in motion it inevitably its energy does an electron when moving around the nucleus continually should radiate energy that is loses energy as a result it should be gradually pulled towards the nucleus and any upgrading with it this should result in the total collapse of the atom if it were the items should be highly unstable and hence matter would not exist in the form that we know however we know that an atom is structurally stable does rutherford's model failed to explain the stability of an atom

DRAWBACKS / LIMITATIONS

1. Atoms are made of of still smaller particles

- proton , neutron and electron

2. Failed to explain how atoms of different element shows different properties like valancy , mass etc .

3. Why atoms of different element combine to form compounds

4. Failed to explain existence of allotropes

Q. what are allotropes ?

→ Allotropy is a property of some chemical elements to exist in two or more different element and this existence known as allotropes.

For example :- the allotropes of carbon is diamond
