6

The normal sodium ion

This has 11 protons

Hence there are 11 electrons .

Configuration = 2 , 8 , 1

Positively charged ion

Now when there is a loss of electron , the sodium becomes positively charged

The valence electron is lost from sodium .

The configuration becomes 2 , 8 after losing one electron

Answer

The configuration is 2 , 8

Hope it helps :-)
