⇒ (1/2)(x – 1/2) = (1/8)

⇒ (x – 1/2) = (1/4)

⇒ 4x – 2 = 1

⇒ 4x = 3

Hence x = 3/4

Therefore 3/4 is the number from which if we subtract 1/2 from a number and multiply the result by 1/2, we get 1/8.
