Write the equation for the preparation of whitewash.​

Answer:

Calcium hydroxide is used for whitewash. CaO + H2O --> Ca(OH)2. after application of Ca(OH)2 on wall it reacts with carbon dioxide, CO2 and form calcium carbonate. Ca(OH)2 + CO2 ---> CaCO3 + H2O.

When Ca(OH)2 is applied on the wall,it reacts with the atmospheric carbon dioxide and Calcium Carbonate is formed which is a white precipitate.
