The equations of motion under gravity are given as follows:-
- A motion under gravity refers to the movement of an object whose vertical motion is affected by the presence of gravity.
- There are generally three equations of motion under gravity similar to the three equations of motion.
- The equation of motion under gravity is different from the normal one as s is replaced by h and a is replaced by g.
- During the free fall of an object, the initial velocity of an object is zero. i.e. u = 0
So, h = ut + 1/2gt² will get
h = 0×t +1/2gt²
h = 1/2gt²
v = u + gt
v = 0 + gt
v = gt
v² = u² + 2gh
v² = 0² + 2gh
v² = 2gh
