Write the equation of the line that contains the given point and has the given slope.

a) (4, –10), slope is –5

b) (2, –2), slope is 1.4

c) (12, 5), slope is 0.25

(y-y1)= m(x-x1)
a) y+10 = -5(x-4)
y+10 = -5x+20
y+ 5x = 10.

b) y+2 = 1.4(x-2)
y+2 = 1.4x - 2.8
1.4x-y = 2.8

c). y-5 = 0.25(x-12)
y-5 = 0.25x - 3.
y - 0.25x = 2
