SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The equation of the line that is parallel to the graph of 3x- y = 5, and whose y-intercept is - 7

EVALUATION

Here the given equation of the line is

3x - y = 5

Now the equation of the line parallel to the given line is

3x - y = k - - - - - - - (1)

Where k is constant

Now the line given by Equation 1 has y intercept - 7

So the line given by Equation 1 goes through the point ( 0, - 7)

 \sf{ \implies \: (3 \times 0) - ( - 7) = k}

 \sf{ \implies \:0 + 7 = k}

 \sf{ \implies \: k = 7}

Hence the required equation of the line is

3x - y = 7
