Answer :

(2x - 1)^2 = 2x + 3

x^2 - 2x + 3

x^ - 2x + 1 - 2x - 3 = 0

x^2 - 4x - 2 = 0

then,

a = 1

b = -4

c = -2

Answer:

x^2-4x-2 = 0 \\a = 1 , b = -4 , c = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :- (x-1)^2 = 2x+3

To find :-

  • write the equation in standard form
  • write the values of a , b, c .

Solution :-

Step 1) Write the given equation ,

(x-1)^2 = 2x+3  ----- (1)

Step 2) Simplify the equation ,

            (x-1)^2 = 2x+3 \\x^2 -2x+1 = 2x+3 \\x^2 -4x -2 = 0 \\ ---- (2)

Step 3) We know that general quadratic equation is ,

ax^2+bx+c = 0 ----- (3)

Step 4) By comparing equation , (2) and (3)

we get ,

a = 1 \\b = -4 \\c = -2  ---- (4)

Thus , the answer is

x^2-4x-2 = 0 \\a = 1 , b = -4 , c = -2
