Given :

x + \dfrac{1}{x} = - 2

To find :

  • Equation x + 1/x = -2 in the form of ax²+bx+c=0

Solution :

 \implies \: x + \dfrac{1}{x} = - 2

LCM of x and 1 = x

\implies \dfrac{ {x}^{2} + 1}{x} = - 2

Now cross multiply :-

\implies { {x}^{2} + 1} = - 2x

\implies { {x}^{2} + 1} + 2x = 0

\implies { {x}^{2} + 2x + 1} = 0

Answer :

x²+2x+1=0 is in the form of ax²+bx+c=0.
