  • In terms of chemistry, equilibrium is a state of reaction where in the rate of backward process is equal to the rate of forward reaction. These would be no visible change in the system

  • In other words,the rate of formation of products would be equal to the rate of decomposition of products into reactants

  • Further there are two types of equilibrium,Static Equilibrium (The total system is at rest ) and Dynamic Equilibrium ( The amount of substances leaving is equal to the amount of substances entering )

  • Dynamic Equilibrium can be understood as follows : Take water in a beaker with a hole in the bottom,and you add equal amounts of water which has left through the hole

For example,

Rate of evaporation of water is equal to the rate of precipitation of water
