ANSWER

When we inhale, our diaphragm contracts and moves downward. This increases the space in your chest cavity, into which your lungs expand. The intercostal muscles between your ribs also help enlarge the chest cavity. They contract to pull your rib cage both upward and outward when we inhale.

HEY HERE your answer goes

When you breathe in, or inhale, your diaphragm contracts (tightens) and moves downward. This increases the space in your chest cavity, into which your lungs expand. The intercostal muscles between your ribs also help enlarge the chest cavity. They contract to pull your rib cage both upward and outward when you inhale.

The processes of inspiration and expiration are vital for providing oxygen to tissues and removing carbon dioxide from the body. Inspiration occurs via contraction of muscles such as the diaphragm, whereas expiration tends to be passive at rest. This process changes slightly when breathing is forced.

hope it helped you

thanks
