here is your answer...

given series:

-15,-7,9,17

the difference between any two consecutive terms is 8.

thus,

common difference(d)=8

first term (a)=-15

thus,

the explicit formula will be:

a+(n-1)d

=>-15+(n-1)8

=>-15+8n-8

=>8n-23(answer)
