Factor of a number : If a number divides another number without leaving any reminder then the number which divides is called the factors of the number that has been divided.

E.g : 1, 2, 3, 6, 12 are the factors of 24.

FACTOR TREE :

A chain  of factors which is represented in the form of a tree, called factor tree.

SOLUTION :

To express 144 as a product of its prime factors from a factor tree.

Given number : 144

Then, factor tree of 144 is given in the ATTACHMENT.

Therefore , 144 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 = 2⁴ × 3²

Hence, the exponent of 2  the prime factorization  of  144  is 2⁴ .
