5x^2-4-3x^2+6x+8+5x-13
combine like terms
5x^2-3x^2+6x+5x-4-13+8
=2x^2+11x-9
substituing x=-2
=2(-2)^2+11(-2)-9
=8-22-9
=-23
hence the answer is -23

  • The simplified form is 2x² + 11x - 9

  • The value of the expression when x = - 2 is - 23

Given :

The expression 5x² - 4 - 3x² + 6x + 8 + 5x -13

To find :

  • The simplified form

  • The value of the expression when x = - 2

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Write down the given expression

Here the given expression is

5x² - 4 - 3x² + 6x + 8 + 5x -13

Step 2 of 2 :

Simplify the given expression

5x² - 4 - 3x² + 6x + 8 + 5x -13

= 5x² - 3x² + 6x + 5x - 13 - 4 + 8

= 2x² + 11x - 9

Step 3 of 3 :

Find the value of the expression when x = - 2

The value of the expression when x = - 2

= 2 × ( - 2)² + 11 × ( - 2) - 9

= 8 - 22 - 9

= - 23
