In general, an expression with one or more than one term (with non- negative integral exponents of the variables) is called a 'Polynomial'. The sum (or difference) of two like terms is a like term with coefficient equal to the sum (or difference) of coefficients of the two like terms.

Linear equation: ax + b = 0

Quadratic equation : ax² + bx + c = 0

Cubic equation : ax³ + bx² + cx + d = 0
