The extent of Himalaya Mountain is 2,400 km. Its location starts from India, and extends in Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bhutan and ends in Nepal.
Himalaya has three ranges namely:
- Himadri – It is 6000m in height and is composed of 3 other mountain ranges namely Mount Everest, Mount Godwin and Kanchenjunga. It acts as source of origin for rivers like Ganga and Yamuna.
- Himachal – It is also known as “Mahabharata Range” and its height is 3,700m to 4,500m.
- Shiwalik – This is the outer range of Himalayas. It is 1,500m to 2000m in height.
