Write the fiinctions o f the following in the digestive process:
(i) Bile
(ii) Bicarbonate secreted by the duodenal wall.
(iii) Pancreatic amylase.

1. bile juice is responsible for the emulsification of the fats.
2. Duodenal mucosal bicarbonate secretion plays an important role in the defense  against acid discharged from the stomach.
3. Pancreatic amylase digests starch to maltose.

bile is not an enzyme but a salt it emusifies(break downs)fats into simpler salts

bicarbonate turns the meduim of food from acidic which was in stomach to basic for the activation of the pancreatic amylase.

pancreatic amylase has lot of enzymes such as 
trypsin
chymotrypsin
lipase
nucleasses
they all act in digetion of food into simpler products
