- The mathematical expression for the first law of thermodynamics is as follows:- ΔU = q + W ( where ΔU is the change in internal energy, q is the amount of heat and W is the work done)
- For an adiabatic process, the heat content of the system remains constant. Since there is no change in heat, q = 0, Hence, ΔU = Wad.
- Hence, work done in an adiabatic process is equal to the amount of change in internal energy.
