The number of pencils does teacher have left is  54 - p s

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

Total numbers of pencil does teacher have initially = x = 54

Total number of students  = s

Total number of pencils given to each students = p

Let The number of pencils does teacher have left = y pencils

According to question

Total numbers of pencil does teacher have initially = Total number of pencils given to each students × Total number of students + The number of pencils does teacher have left

i.e   x = p × s + y

Or,  y = 54 - p × s

∴     y = 54 - p s

So, The number of pencils does teacher have left  = y = 54 - p s

Hence, The number of pencils does teacher have left is  54 - p s     Answer
