Answer:

In order to write rational numbers with a common denominator, we have to take the LCM of the denominators.

LCM = Lowest Common Multiple

a) 7/4, 9/6, 17/12

LCM = 12

Now, multiply the numerator and denominator with the same number

7/4 x 3/3 = 21/12

9/6 x 2/2 = 18/12

17/12 (remains same cause denominator is already LCM)

Now,

7/4, 9/6, 17/12 = 21/12 , 18/12, 17/12

b) 3/8 , 16/24 , 12/48 and 15/32

LCM = 96

3/8 x 12/12 = 36/96

16/24 x 4/4 = 64/96

12/48 x 2/2 = 24/96

15/32 x 3/3 = 45/96
