Values education is teaching and learning about the ideals that a society deems important. The aim is for students not only to understand the values, but also to reflect them in their attitudes and behavior, and contribute to society through good citizenship and ethics. Moral education, character education, ethics and philosophy have attempted to do similar things. Character education, for example, described six character education programs in USA schools that aimed to teach important values, such as friendship, fairness and social justice, and influence student attitudes and behavior.
