Write the following statement in the form of equation:-

i) Naresh said to his daughter that seven years ago my age was seven times your age and three years from now I will be three times as old as you.

ii) A person travels 90 km by train and taxi to reach his office. The distance travelled by train is twice the distance travelled by taxi. ​

Answer:

1) let the present age of naresh = x

the present age of daughter = y

nareshs age seven years ago = x-7

seven time the age of daughter

x-7 = 7y

x-7y = 7

naresh age three years from now = x +3

three times the age of daughter

x+3 = 3y

x - 3y = -3

2) let the distance travelled by the taxi = x

the distance travelled by train = twice of x

= 2x

total distance travelled by both train and taxi= 90

x + 2x = 90
