Answer:

In order to find out the number of images formed by 2 mirrors kept at an angle,

first find out a numerical term "m"

"m" is obtained by dividing 360° by the angle between 2 mirrors.

Let the angle between the mirrors be θ

Then "m" = (360/θ)

Now 2 cases arise :

1. IF "m" IS EVEN : then the number of images formed will be (m-1)

2. IF "m" IS ODD, THEN 2 SUBCASES ARISE :

a) if the object is placed asymmetrically, then number of images

= (m)

b) if the object is placed symetrically then the number of images formed

= (m-1)

• Write the formula for symmetric and asymmetric image formation by two mirrors.

Explanation :-

when two mirrors are arranged at an angle theta then we evaluate the quantity 360/theta .

Then,

• case(1). 360/theta=n

n is even then no of images = n -1

• Case( 2)n is odd integer and object placed at bisector then number of images = n-1

  • If image placed symmetrically

number of images = n -1

  • If image placed asymmetrically

number of images = n
