Well first of all you must know what is the group number of Mn. It's 7 .

So we are looking for an oxo-anion in which the oxidation state of Mn is +7

Generally Mn posses two ions -

# (MnO4)-

# (MnO4)2-

Oxidation number of Mn in (Mn04)-
→ x+(-8) = -1
→ x = +7

So (MnO4)- is that oxo-anion in which its oxidation state resembles its group number.
