2-They have high melting and boiling point.

3-They are soluble in water because ions dissociate but not in organic compounds.

Ionic compouns are the compounds formed with ions. NaCl, for example, has 2 ions Na+ and Cl-. As they are opposite charges, they attract each other by electrostatic force. The Cl is mire eoectronegative so it sucks the valence electron of Na into its own shell. So, the properties you get by this are :

1. They are held by Electristatic forces

2. They are made up of ions.

3. Due to the difference in charges, they form electric dipoles and an electric feild in one direction.

4. They are also known as Metallic bonds.

5. They are strong bonds.

6. Have high melting and boiling point.

Hope this helps.
