Here is the full story of Jason and the golden fleece:-
Pelias, uncle of Jason and son of Poseidon, took the throne of Iolcus and locked Aeson in the dungeons of Iolcus.Jason one of Aeson's children and was born in the dungeons.

One day Jason wanting to regain the throne for his father shows up in Iolcus to demand that Pelias return the throne to him as he was the rightful heir.

King Pelias agrees but lays down one condition. He asks Jason to bring him the Golden Fleece(fleece of the winged ram,Chrysomallos) which is located in the land of Colchis.Jason adament on regaining the throne accepted the challenge and assembled team of many Greek heroes like Hercules and Orpheus to aboard the magical ship, the Argos with him and set out on the voyage called Argonautica.

They reached Colchis after an adventurous journey and asked King Aeetes to give him the Golden Fleece. Aeetes agreed but he set a challenge which he was sure Jason would fail. He asked Jason to plough the land by using two bulls with metallic legs which threw flames from their nostrils, and then sow the teeth of the dragon that the king gave to him. But he did not tell Jason that by sowing the teeth of the dragon,a large army of warriors would come out of the soil to attack him.

Fortunately Medea, daughter of Aeetes told him about her father’s plan and gave him an ointment that would make him invincible to fire and iron for 1 day and she also instructed Jason to throw a stone at the warriors due to which the warriors would launch into battle and kill each other.

Jason succeeded in the task easy but King Aeetes was still not ready to part with the golden fleece. So he made Jason fight and kill the sleepless dragon that guarded the fleece but Medea put the beast to sleep with her spell and Jason retrieved the fleece and sailed away with Medea, as he had promised.

But Medea knew that her father would follow them, so she captured her brother and killed him, spreading his pieces across the ocean due to which her father would have to search for all the pieces of his son and thus provide them with the necessary time to escape.

They reached their hometown after facing and passing many challenges.

Hope it helps!
