The story "The little girl" is about a small girl named Kezia. She is a sweet, innocent girl who is very much afraid of her father as he is very strict. He used to stare at her and also give her physical punishment which used to make her more frightened. Her mother too was a stern one but her Granny was aa loving, kind one whom she adored the most. Though her father was a strict one but heher always made it a point to visit her room, give her a kiss and then leave for work in his carriage. Once she saw Mr. Macdonald playing with his children after which she decided that there are different sorts of fathers. But when one night her mother was admitted to the hospital and her granny was there too with her mother she was left alone with the cook,who somehow made her sleep but due to her nightmares she again woke up and screamed. But her father cared for her that day and that she could realise that as her father gets tired due to his work he is not able t spend time with her. But now she was sure enough that her father cared for her a lot.
