Function : These wings do not have any role in flight. Instead, they have the function to cover as well as protect the metathoracic wings, that is, the second pair of wings.

Second pair of wings :

These wings are named as hind wings or metathoracic wings because these wings originates from metathorax region.

They are thin, membranous type and are transparent.

Function : These wings have the function to help in the flight of cockroach.
