Powers and duties. Under the draft constitution the President occupies the same position as the King under the English Constitution. He is the head of the state but not of the Executive. He represents the Nation but does not rule the Nation.

(i) He appoints Prime Minister although he has to appoint the leader of majority party as the PM. (ii) All government activities take place in the name of the President. (iii) All laws and major policy decisions of the government are issued in her name. (iv) All major appointments are made in the name of the President.
