The functions of three segment of a transistor are :

                 1. Emitter                                              

                2. Base                                                  

                3. Collector                                          

Emitter :- It is a heavily doped and of moderate size. It supplies the large number of majority charge carries for the flow of current through the transistor.

Base :- It is the central region. It is very thin and lightly doped. It controls the movement of charge carries coming from emitter region.

Collector :- It is moderately doped ad large sized as compared to emitter. It collects a major portion of the majority carries supplied by the emitter.

NOTE :- A junction transistor is a semiconductor electronic device, discovered by ''William Shockley'' in 1951.
