  • (1) Lymph absorbs some of the fluid from the digestive tract. It passes proteins from circulation to tissues. It also carries the digested fat.
  • (2) The lymph drains excess fluid from extracellular spaces back into the blood.
  • (3) It carries carbon dioxide and nitrogenous waste materials from tissues to the blood.
  • (4) It protects the body by killing the germs.
