Stomatal opening is prerequisite for transpiration to occur, that accelerate the diffusion of gases into stomatal aperture both for photosynthesis and respiration besides photorespiration.

Without transpiration no water uptake along with mineral nutrients and no transpiration pull ,no gas exchange so on.

Transpiration is necessary evil though there is loss of water.

Transpiration :- Evaporation of water molecules from the cells of a leaf create a suction which pulls water from the xylem cells of roots. The loss of water in the form of vapour from the Aerial parts of the plant is called as transpiration.

Function :-

It helps in the absorption and upward movement of water and minerals dissolved in it form roots to the leaves.
