(a) Endoplasmic Reticulum
(b) Golgi Complex
(c) Nucleus
(d) Chromoplasts
(e) Vacuoles
(f) Mitochondria
Answers
Answer:
Functions of Endoplasmic reticulum :
- It forms the supporting framework of the cell.
- Helps to keep various cell organelles in position.
Functions of Golgi apparatus :
- Helps in the storage, modification and packaging of secretory products.
- Helps in the formation of cell plate cell wall in plants, plasma membrane and lysosomes during cell division.
Functions of Nucleus :
- It regulates the cell cycle.
- It is the storehouse of genes.
Functions of Chromoplasts :
- Imparts different colours to flowers and fruits.
Functions of Vacuoles :
- Helps in osmoregulation.
- Helps in growth of plant parts.
Functions of Mitochondria :
- These are the sites of cellular respiration.
- Known as powerhouse of the cell.
● Endoplasmic Reticulum
= The endoplasmic reticulum serves many general functions, including the folding of protein molecules in sacs called cisternae and the transport of synthesized proteins in vesicles to the Golgi apparatus.
● Golgi Complex
= major function is the modifying, sorting and packaging of proteins for secretion. It is also involved in the transport of lipids around the cell, and the creation of lysosomes. The sacs or folds of the Golgi apparatus are called cisternae.
● Nucleus
= The nucleolus takes up around 25% of the volume of the nucleus. This structure is made up of proteins and ribonucleic acids (RNA). Its main function is to rewrite ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and combine it with proteins. This results in the formation of incomplete ribosomes.
● Chromoplasts
=Chromoplast are found in fruit, flowers, roots, and stressed and aging leaves, and are responsible for their distinctive colors. This is always associated with a massive increase in the accumulation of carotenoid pigments. The conversion of chloroplasts to chromoplasts in ripening is a classic example.
● Vacuoles
= Vacuoles are membrane-bound sacs within the cytoplasm of a cell that function in several different ways. In mature plant cells, vacuoles tend to be very large and are extremely important in providing structural support, as well as serving functions such as storage, waste disposal, protection, and growth
● Mitochondria
= Mitochondria are a part of eukaryotic cells. The main job of mitochondria is to perform cellular respiration. This means it takes in nutrients from the cell, breaks it down, and turns it into energy. This energy is then in turn used by the cell to carry out various functions.
