Electrovalent bond is formed as result of attraction between oppositely charged ions.

It is formed by complete transfer of electrons and therefore Lewis- Kossel approach is best for these compounds.

They do not conduct electricity in their solid states but when dissolved in water (or any polar solvent) these compound dissociate enabling the flow of ions throughout the solution. This movement of ions helps them to conduct electric charge. They also conduct electricity in their molten state.

They have high melting and boiling point due to electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions.

Due to the bond’s polar nature these compounds are soluble in polar solvents like water.

They possess crystal structure as they arrange themselves in an orderly fashion in the lattice.
