To Find:-

  • The HCF of smallest composite number and the smallest prime number.

So before finding the HCF let us understand the meaning of composite and prime numbers:-

Composite Numbers:- Composite numbers are the numbers which are divisible by 1, itself and any other number i.e divisible by more than 2 numbers.

Prime Numbers:- Prime numbers are the numbers which are only divisible by 1 and itself.

So we know that,

Smallest composite number is 4 and smallest prime number is 2.

(Note:- 1 is neither a composite number nor a prime number).

Also,

=》 2 = 2 × 1.

Therefore HCF of 2 and 4 is 2.
