write the HCF of two consecutive 1) odd number 2) even number
Answers
Question :- write the HCF of two consecutive 1) odd number 2) even number ?
Solution :-
- Odd Numbers :- Not Divisible by 2.
- Even Numbers = Divisible by 2 .
- HCF = The greatest number that is a factor of two (or more) other numbers.
1) HCF of 2 consecutive odd Numbers :-
Lets take Example .
Ex :- consecutive odd numbers are 3 and 5 .
→ 3 = 3 * 1
→ 5 = 5 * 1
As, we can see , Only common factor between 3 and 5 is 1 .
Ex :- consecutive odd numbers are 33 and 35 .
→ 33 = 3 * 11 * 1
→ 35 = 5 * 7 * 1
Again, Only common factor between 33 and 35 is 1 .
Hence, we can conclude that, HCF of two consecutive Odd Numbers will always Equal to 1.

Now,
2) HCF of 2 consecutive Even Numbers :-
Lets take Example .
Ex :- consecutive Even numbers are 8 and 10 .
→ 8 = 2 * 2 * 2
→ 10 = 2 * 5
As, we can see , Only common factor between 8 and 10 is 2 .
Ex :- consecutive odd numbers are 96 and 98 .
→ 96 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 3
→ 98 = 2 * 7 * 7
Again, Only common factor between 96 and 98 is 2. .
Hence, we can conclude that, HCF of two consecutive Even Numbers will always Equal to 2.
