Rani Lakshmi Bai The queen of Jhansi wanted the company to recognise her adopted son to be heir of Jhansi after the death of her husband . but the company denied her request and took Jhansi under British empire under doctrine of lapse . so Rani lakshmi bai took an active part in the revolt of 1857 along with tantia tope.
Nana sabeb the adopted son of Peshwa Baji Rao 2 pleaded the company to gave him the pension of his father when latter died but the company denied to his demand too. so Nana Saheb become furious .He recognised himself as Peshwa . He said that he was a commander under Bahadur Shah Zafar.
Kunwar Singh was a sepoy he was hanged to death for attacking his officials at barrackpore.
This increased the anger of sepoys and they marched to Delhi and choose Bahadur Shah Zafar as their leader.
