Substances like CO2 accumulates in high concentration. In cell's CO2 is low as compared to that inside the cells. As there is a difference of concentration of CO2 inside and outside a cell CO2 moves out of the cell. Similarly O2 enters the cell when the level or concentration inside the cell decreases. Therefore, Osmosis plays an imprtant role in living beings, for the exchange of gases.
