The radical
This is the first embryonic part of the seed to emerge.
It emerges through the microphyle and grows downwards into the soil.
It grows deep down into the soil to allow the plant suck up water and nourish the growing shoot.
The plumule
It is the first shoot to grow.
It grows after the radical.
During the early stages of development it manufactures food by photosynthesis thus providing nutrients for plant growth.

With the right crop parts the seed germination can take an all new turn.
There is a tiny shoot called epicotyls from which the entire shoot system of a plant develops.
Also, the growing tip of these epicotyls is called plumule, and the radical is a small embryonic root.
