according to this law: the structure of the ion is quite stable and there is very small charge on ion. A large atom will form the anion while the smaller one will only form cation while it's reverse on case of covalent bond. this law help in predicting the nature of a chemical bond whether it is of covalent or ionic nature. it all depends of size of atom.
