So, the three people who played a very important role in the

French Revolution were: (1) Jean Jacques Rousseau , a political activist,

in his Social Contract , introduced the form of government in which there would be a social contract between the people and their representatives.

(2) John Locke , a revolutionist , in his Two Treatises Of Government, sought to refute the doctrine of divine and absolute right of the monarch.

(3) Montesquieu, in his Spirit Of Laws, carried forward the idea by proposing the division of power within the government and the legislative, judiciary

and executive.
