The pair of equations are x=a ... (i) and y=b ..... (ii)

Line given by (i) intersects x−axis and parallel to y−axis

Line given by (ii) intersects y−axis and parallel to x−axis

The point of intersection of both the lines will have same abscissa as (i) i.e. a and same ordinate as (ii) i.e. b.

Thus, they intersect at (a,b), where a and b are real numbers.

Hence, option D is correct.
