4)3-Chloropropanal

5)2,2,4Trimethyl pentane

cheers :)

joy210702: now since CHO group gets more priority.. it will be at the suffix i.e at the end of the name...
joy210702: and cholrine will be at prefix that is infront of the name
joy210702: this is due to priority series... check it in your book you might find
joy210702: the since the chlorine is at carbon no. 3 so 3-Chloropropanal .....propan due to 3 carbons and 'al' bcz u got CHO group
santoshgupta96: oh it's cho group I think it's cooh group now my doubt was clear bro thanks
joy210702: clear ?? :)
joy210702: no if it was COOH group then there would have been one O and one OH group.......but here it has only one O and one H atom joined to the carbon :)
santoshgupta96: but the question no 2 how you know ch3 group is joined to the carbon
joy210702: if nothing is mentioned on an extra branch apart from the longest chain then the no. of lines you find shows the alkyl group .......for example here at carbon 3 its only one line so its Ch3 that is methyl.....if this single line had another line joined head to head.. with it.. then it would have been ethyl...
joy210702: understood ? :)
