ANSWER :

LEWIS OCTET RULE :

Generally , noble gases have eight electrons in their valence shell and only Helium has two valence electrons in it's valence shell. They do not form molecules either with their own atoms or react chemically with atoms of other elements or with other compounds. This is termed as lewis octet rule and it is based on noble gases.

SIMPLEST DEFINITION ABOUT LEWIS OCTET RULE :

The tendency of an element to attain eight valence electrons in it's outermost energy level is called octet rule.

NOTE :

Any element which has eight electrons in it's valence shell is stable but helium has only two valence electrons. Electrons attain the stable configuration either by losing or by gaining electrons.Ne , Ar , Kr , Xe and Rn have octet configuration and Helium possess duplet configuration.

Answer:

Explanation:

You gots hydroxide anion, i.e.

− O H

...there are seven valence electrons around oxygen, versus eight nuclear charges, and thus the oxygen centre BEARS A FORMAL negative charge (because there are the

2 × 1 s

inner core electrons. This is electron-precise, and resonance is not invoked.
